The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) said that 89 civilians were killed in Syria in October, including 25 children, 12 women, and 4 victims who died under torture, one of whom was a child.
In its monthly report released on Friday, the monitoring group also documented the deaths of 12 civilians, including 4 children and 6 women, due to Israeli occupation airstrikes.
It noted that the Assad regime was responsible for killing 12 civilians, including 3 children, while Russian forces killed 11 civilians, including 4 children. The PYD militia killed 3 civilians, including one child, and Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham was responsible for one civilian death (a woman).
Additionally, 61 civilians, including 17 children and 11 women, were killed by other actors.
Daraa province recorded the highest civilian death toll, comprising 26% of the total, with 21 deaths attributed to other parties. Idlib province followed at 19%, with 16 deaths attributed to Assad regime and Russian forces.
The report documented the deaths of 4 individuals, including one child, under torture in October, all at the hands of regime forces. It also noted the deaths of two healthcare workers by other parties.
The network reported that Israeli occupation airstrikes on civilian areas in Lebanon led to the deaths of hundreds, including at least 101 Syrian refugees, of whom 36 were children and 19 women, between September 23 and October 31, 2024.
The network recorded at least 10 attacks on vital civilian facilities in Syria during October.
The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) reiterated that ongoing human rights reports show no resolution to the issues driving Syrian suffering, displacement, and flight to seek safety.
The SOC called for a meaningful international response to hold perpetrators of war crimes in Syria accountable and to push forward with the political process to implement UN resolutions, particularly the Geneva Communique of 2012 and UN Resolutions 2118 and 2254.
