The Riyadh conference which was organized by Saudi Arabia begins today. By bringing together all strands of the Syrian opposition, the conference is hoped to lay out a common document about Syrian’s future agreed upon by the participants.
The Syrian Coalition, which is attending the conference, seeks to make the conference a success and to help rally all spectra of the Syrian opposition around a document based on the 2012 Geneva Communique and the Security Council resolution 2118.
Member of the political committee Salem al-Meslet reaffirmed the Syrian Coalition’s commitment to a political solution in accordance with the 2012 Geneva Communique which calls for the establishment of transitional governing body with full powers, including the powers of the president. Al-Meslet also reiterated the Coalition’s commitment to building a state where the rule of law and justice prevail. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
