Rebel fighters fended of the regime’s offensive on northern rural Hama after fierce clashes resulting in the destruction of around 20 regime armored vehicles. The regime’s offensive, the first to be supported by air cover provided by the Russian air force which uses modern helicopters and fighter jets, was preceded by intense artillery and rocket shelling on rebel-held areas in northern rural Hama.
Activists said that a child was killed in Russian airstrikes on the town of Kafr Zeita, while another civilian was killed in similar attacks on the town of Kafranbouda. The Russian air raids are concentrated on the towns of Lataminah, Kafr Zeita, Kafranbouda, Al-Sayyad, the surroundings of Morek, Latmin, Al-Zakat, Al-Arbaein and Atshan.
The Syrian Coalition said that the steadfastness of the rebels backed by the Syrian people as well as their just cause is the main factor behind victory in this battle and will also ensure their victory in the coming rounds against regime forces.
