Russian jets launched airstrikes on al-Amal camp for the IDP near the Syrian-Turkish border on Tuesday, just three days before the seventh anniversary of the Russian aggression against Syria.
Local activists said that four Russian airstrikes targeted the Kalbid-Kafr Losin road east of Bab al-Hawa in rural Idlib, adding that the attacks injured eight people, including an elderly woman.
The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) said that the attack demonstrated the real goal of the brutal Russian aggression against Syria from its beginning. It made it clear that Russia is mainly targeting IDP camps, residential areas, medical centers and schools with the aim of discouraging the Syrian people from pursing their demands for freedom, dignity and democracy.
SOC’s member Basil Al-Ghunaim said that since the beginning of the Russian aggression in Syria, the Putin regime has not committed to any ceasefire agreement as its mission was to support the regime’s military attacks and obstruct the political process on Syria.
Meanwhile, SOC’s member Muhammad Wajih Jumaa pointed out that Russia committed thousands of massacres in Syria, and for years it has disrupted Security Council resolutions to hold the Assad regime accountable for its crimes. He pointed out that the inaction of the international community encouraged Russia to persist in its tyranny, as it is now waging a brutal war on Ukraine and practices international terrorism once again.
