Member of the political committee of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Munther Sarras, has condemned the brutal Russian bombing that struck the western city of Idlib and the outskirts of the town of Al-Bab in the Aleppo countryside on Thursday, resulting in civilian casualties. Sarras emphasized that this escalation constitutes a blatant violation of UN resolutions and agreements, amounting to war crimes as it indiscriminately targeted innocent civilians.
In a press statement, Sarras urged the international community to take decisive action to halt the atrocities committed against civilians and to actively pursue the revitalization of the political process in line with UN resolutions, notably the Geneva Communique of 2012, and UN Resolutions 2118 and 2254. These efforts aim to facilitate a comprehensive political transition in Syria and put an end to the prolonged suffering of the Syrian people.
The Syrian Civil Defense reported that Russian jets bombed a furniture manufacturing workshop on the western outskirts of Idlib city on Thursday, resulting in the death of one civilian and the injury of five others, including a child.
Additionally, Russian occupation jets conducted multiple airstrikes on the outskirts of Al-Hadath village near the town of Al-Bab, situated east of Aleppo. Concurrently, regime forces targeted a motorcycle with a guided missile on the outskirts of Daret Izza in the Aleppo countryside.
