As part of plans by the Syrian National Coalition’s Department of Foreign Relations to supply the Syrian opposition with highly specialized staff in the field of diplomatic work, the Department run a second training course in the field of diplomatic work for a group of Syrian university graduates. The course was run in cooperation with the diplomatic academy of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the framework of the program of cooperation and coordination between the two sides.
Held in the capital Ankara, the course lasted for seven days. The training was supervised by a group of ambassadors, experts, academics, and professors.
Diplomatic training was not limited to the theoretical side such as the giving of lectures and panel sessions as the trainees were offered practical training as well. For a week, the trainees closely watched the behavior of the staff of Turkish Foreign Ministry and were acquainted with the method of dealing and work methodology in the Ministry.
The trainees indicated that they have gained theoretical and practical experience through the course, adding that interacting with and watching the daily workings inside the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were among the most influential points in the training.
At the end of the course, President of the Syrian Coalition, Anas Al-Abda, presented certificates to the trainees as he thanked the Turkish Foreign Ministry and the academics. He stressed the need for constant cooperation in this important field.
The Department of Foreign Relations will run a new course in cooperation with the Turkish Foreign Ministry, while it was agreed to offer a third training course for a new group of Syrian women and men in the field of diplomatic work next year. (Source: Syrian National Coalition’s Media Department)
