President of the Syrian Coalition Riad Seif said that Russia must stop attempts to circumvent the Syrian revolution and re-produce the Assad regime. He called on Russia to work with the international community to agree on bringing about a political solution in Syria in line with UN resolutions on Syria, chiefly among them is the Geneva Communique of 2012 and UN Security Council resolution 2554.
Seif said that Moscow’s continued attempts to impose its own vision for political solution in Syria, despite the failure of all previous attempts, has indicated it is determined to undermine the political process and demonstrated its failure to play its role as a permanent member of the United Nations.
Nobody can hijack the will of the Syrian people neither by exerting pressure on the Syrian opposition in the political process or by the killing of civilians and the targeting of public markets, hospitals and service centers with the support of the Russian air force, Seif stressed.
Seif underscored that the Syrian opposition and revolution forces are now unified more than ever as they have won the confidence of the Syrian people by insisting on meeting their demands for bringing about a radical and genuine change in the structure of the regime and the establishment of a democratic, pluralistic state without the dictatorship of Assad.
Seif pointed out that the Syrian Coalition’s Assembly voted against participation in the Sochi conference three months ago, adding that this refusal came to emphasize that a political solution can only be the outcome of the UN-led Geneva process. (Source: Syrian Coalition’s Media Department)
