Dr Muhammad Mukhtar Shanqeeti delivered a lecture at the Secretariat Building of the Syrian Coalition which was attended by members of the Syrian Coalition and its political committee. The lecture was titled “Logic of Revolutions and Their Course,” and focused on the conditions of the success of the revolutions, citing the French and American revolutions. Shanqeeti stresses “the greatness of the Syrian Revolution,” pointing out that it has become “an existential conflict,” and to the need for taking lessons from the experiences of other revolutions. Shanqeeti added that the worst form of tyranny is when the people are denied the chance to learning the art of politics, so it is vital that the gap between the outside opposition and the Syrian rebels inside Syria be bridged and a common political culture be built between politicians and fighters.” He suggested establishing a center for studies “that offers intensive courses for political and military leaders as well as media activists and spokespersons. This center should focus on the principles of governance and international relations, and also on regional and international parties and their positions. The Syrian Revolution has not yet succeeded because of the too many actors both at home and outside, and also because it has involved many regional and international parties. The situation in Syria turned into a problem of complicated and interwound scenarios. The Syrian Coalition and the rebels can urge the international parties to reconsider their positions towards the Syrian crisis and provide qualitative support for the Free Syrian Army while suspending the diplomatic support for the Assad regime.” (Source: Syrian Coalition)
