A ministerial delegation from the Syrian Interim Government toured the town of Tell Abyad which the Syrian National Army (SNA) and the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) freed from the PYD militia three days ago as part of Operation Peace Spring. The tour aimed to assess the situation in and around the town and the needs of the population as well as to begin the restoration of security and stability.
The delegation included SIG’s Minister of Defense, Major General Salim Idris, Minister of Interior, Colonel Mohieldin Harmoush, and Minister of Local Administration and Services, Mohamed Suleiman.
The ministerial delegation toured the main streets of the town and talked to the citizens who offered them a warm welcome. The ministers drew up a list of their observations and the most urging needs.
Residents of the town stressed the need to activate local councils and establish a police force in order to provide services and restore security and stability.
The ministers stressed they would spare no effort to carry out SIG’s vision that is based on the empowerment of civil administration and good governance in Tell Abyad and the rest of the liberated areas east of the Euphrates. (Source: Syrian National Coalition’s Media Department)
