The Syrian Interim Government’s (SIG) Minister of Education, Hoda Al-Absi, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Syrian Civil Defense Corps whereby the rescue group will provide logistical services for the educational process and equip schools before the start of the upcoming academic year.
Al-Absi said that under the agreement, the civil defense will clean, equip and sterilize the exam centers designated by the Ministry of Education. It will also fill the water tanks in the exam centers for the duration of the exams.
She pointed out that the civil defense will provide the exam centers with transport vehicles and drivers who will be tasked with transporting the exam papers from the exam directorates to the educational complexes and then to the exam centers.
The civil defense will also provide the educational complexes with ambulances to deal with the medical emergencies during exams as well as clean and sterilize schools before the start of the new academic year 2020-2021.
The Minister pointed out that cooperation between the Ministry of Education and the Syrian Civil Defense will last three months, which is the period necessary for public examinations and for the preparation of schools before the start of the new academic year.
Since 2013, SIG has been running high school examinations while committing to the highest quality standards. It has so far issued high school certificates to about 55,000 students, of whom at least 9,000 continued their education in Turkey and the rest of the European countries.
