The Syrian Interim Government (SIG) said that the Citizen Service Center continues to provide its services to citizens since 2016, including documentation and certification of diplomas, noting that the office faces many obstacles and challenges in this context.
In a statement issued on SIG’s website on Saturday, SIG made it clear that the Citizen Service Center certifies diplomas of all grades and transfers the fees it receives to the Syrian Interim Government duly. It said that due to the precautionary measures, papers are accepted only through the post office.
SIG said that the staff of the office and their families have recently entered quarantine in accordance with the health measures related to coronavirus, adding that the Center was closed down for 14 days which caused disruption to its work.
It added that after the quarantine ended, the Center received about 2,000 documents for certification, noting that the work hours were increased and that the staff is currently working at maximum capacity.
SIG indicated that the Center processed around 1,000 documents in addition to about 50 additional documents being received on a daily basis, adding that the Center will complete them all within ten days.
Moreover, SIG said that it had contacted the Turkish Ministry of Education and Higher Education to request that it takes the conditions of Syrian students into consideration in view of the exceptional circumstances related to securing and certifying diplomas. It said that the Turkish Ministry of Education is very cooperative in this regard.
SIG added that it is not aware of any Syrian student whose application for university stopped due to the delay in the processing of the certificates.
It stressed that the challenges facing the Center are not limited to the excessive workload or shortage of staff, adding that there are real tasks and responsibilities related to the certification of documents.
SIG also indicated that the Center continues to respond to complaints and solve them, adding that it is seeking to raise the level, quality and speed of services, provide more services for Syrians, live up to the aspirations of the Syrian people, and present a model for serving the Syrian refugees in Turkey.
