The Syrian Interim Government (SIG) on Tuesday took a decision to set a unified price for bread in the freed territories in cooperation with the local councils. The decision was based on instructions by the Syrian Opposition Coalition.
SIG’s Grain Foundation set the price of a 775-gram pack of bread at one Turkish lira. The decision was taken following a meeting that brought together officials of the Grain Foundation and local councils.
The move was based on the results of a study carried out by the Grain Mills Company and a proposal by the Director of the General Company for Bakeries.
SIG had earlier set a purchase price of wheat from farmers to be higher than the price offered by the Assad regime and the PYD militia. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
