President of the Syrian Negotiations Commission (SNC), Anas Abdah, held a virtual meeting with ambassadors of the EU countries to Geneva and discussed with them the situation in Syria, especially the situation in the IDP camps and developments in the political process.
Abdah stressed the need to make every effort to secure medical and humanitarian aid for the internally displaced people residing in camps in northwestern Syria, especially winter supplies to protect them from the bitter cold.
Abdah called for combining the efforts to discuss all tracks laid out in UN Security Council Resolution 2254 and to work on them in parallel, stressing that the discussions must not be limited to the track of the Constitutional Committee.
Moreover, Abdah stressed the need to guarantee the rights of the IDP and refugees, maintaining that any elections that the murderous Assad regime will hold will be illegitimate.
He also pointed out that the goal of the political process is to bring about a political transition in accordance with UN resolutions. He said: “The Syrian people deserve a democratic future and a state that is based on freedom, dignity and security.” (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
