Ahmad Baccora, the coordinator of the Refugee and Displaced Persons Working Group in the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), emphasized that the ongoing forced deportations of Syrian refugees from Lebanon, despite all international warnings, constitute a serious violation of all international norms and laws, including those ratified and signed by Lebanon.
In a press statement, Baccora pointed out that the SOC is closely monitoring the situation of Syrian refugees in Lebanon. He condemned the continued forced deportation campaigns, which could endanger their lives, as has happened in many cases.
He pointed out that there is a vague plan being implemented by the Lebanese authorities, which reject all the initiatives and solutions proposed by the SOC to resolve the issue of Syrian refugees in Lebanon. He added that the SOC, in turn, will take all necessary measures to protect the rights of Syrian refugees in Lebanon and bring these violations to international justice to hold those responsible accountable.
Baccora stressed the necessity for the international community to have a voice in the issue of Syrian refugees in Lebanon, to exert pressure on the Lebanese authorities to stop these violations, compensate the victims, and prevent such incidents from recurring.
