The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) condemned the Assad regime’s attempts to storm Dara’a by the Fourth Division which is controlled by Iran. These attempts constitute a blatant violation of the pacification agreements in the region as they include raids on civilian homes, arrests and intimidation.
In a press release issued on Monday, the SOC said that the Assad regime continues to violate the so-called reconciliation agreements concluded in 2018 with guarantees from Russia which did not abide by any of the agreements that it conducted or was a guarantor of this treacherous regime.
“This proves once again that Russia cannot be trusted as it is unable to honor any agreement or deal,” the SOC added.
The SOC commended “the resistance being shown by the people of Dara’a province to the treacherous regime and its backers. It reminds the international community of its responsibilities with regard to maintaining peace and security as well as the dangers threatening the lives of civilians in southern Syria.”
“The international community is also required to take serious action to support the political transition in Syria in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 2254 and to confront the Iranian-Russian policies aimed at spreading chaos and fueling conflicts in the region.” (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
