Secretary-General of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Haitham Rahma, stressed that the ongoing demonstrations against the Iranian mullahs’ regime in many Iranian cities represents a window of hope for salvation from this regime and its subversive behavior in the region. He pointed out that the popular uprising is likely to escalate despite the brutal repression and mass arrests of protestors.
Rahma condemned the Iranian regime’s brutal crackdown on the popular uprising in Iran which aims to silence the voices of freedom. He said that these tactics are consistent with the crimes of the Assad regime against the Syrian people, in which the mullahs’ regime has been a partner and supporter.
Rahma called on the countries of the region and the international community to support this uprising and the demands of the Iranian people to overthrow the regime and bring about a democratic transition in the country.
Moreover, Rahma said that supporting the demands of the popular uprising is the duty of whoever believes in justice and struggles for the values of freedom and equality.
Rahma added that the victory of the Iranian people is a victory for all the peoples of the region who suffer the Iranian aggression against their homelands as well as against their social and cultural fabric. He also said that it will be a victory for the values of justice and freedom everywhere in the world.
