The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) congratulates the Syriac Assyrians on the Akitu festival, which falls on April 1st the first day of the Assyrian Babylonian year.
“We congratulate the Syrian people on this occasion as we emphasize that one of the main goals of the great Syrian Revolution is to consolidate the rule of law, justice and freedom. The revolution also aims to build a state in which all Syrians live as true partners in a homeland that respects cultural diversity and works to preserve it and pass it on to future generations,” the SOC added.
The SOC added: “We hope that on the next Akitu we will be closer to achieving the Syrian people’s goals of freedom, justice and dignity, and that Syrians will be able to celebrate their religious and national holidays in their beloved country – in free and independent Syria.”
