A delegation from the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) met with the Council of the Syrian Community in the Turkish province of Gaziantep and discussed with them the reality of Syrian refugees in the province.
The delegation comprised SOC’s President Nasr Al-Hariri, Vice-president Ruba Habboush, and members of the SOC’s political committee Salem Al-Meslet, Abdel-Majid Barakat, and Muhammad Al-Khatib.
Chairman of the Council Mustafa Al-Hussein talked about the circumstances which surrounded the formation of the Council as well as its goals and the activities it is carrying out to improve the conditions of Syrian nationals in the province.
Al-Hussein pointed out that the Council has contacted Turkish authorities and several entities in order to launch educational and cultural projects; support Syrian students who are subjected to bullying; and communicate with the Turkish Directorate General of Migration Management to address the difficulties Syrian refugees are facing.
For his part, Al-Hariri talked about the importance of forming councils of communities in all host countries in order to provide services, relief aid, information and education programs for Syrian refugees, and communicate with the local authorities. He also said that these councils will help organize the Syrian communities in the host countries and ensure that they play an effective role in the event of elections or the fall of the Assad regime.
Al-Hariri said that the SOC stands ready to provide all kinds of support for the success of the work of the Syrian community in Gaziantep as he encouraged forming similar councils in all Turkish provinces. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
