President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Hadi Al-Bahra, along with his accompanying delegation, convened a meeting on Tuesday with the Displaced Persons Association, the Media Union, and the Revolutionary Movement in the town of Al-Bab in the Aleppo countryside.
The SOC’s delegation, comprising Abdel Basset Abdel Latif, Bahjat Al-Atassi, Muhammad Qaddah, Najib Rahmoun, Basil Ghuneim, and Minister of Finance and Economy Abdel Hakim Al-Masri from the interim government, engaged in discussions covering various topics.
Al-Bahra provided insights into the latest developments in Syria, the ongoing political process, and the international community’s response. He emphasized the irreplaceable need for political change, urging the implementation of UN Resolution 2254. Al-Bahra highlighted the significance of sustaining the peaceful Suwayda uprising, echoing the aspirations and demands of the Syrian people.
The president stressed the critical importance of improving basic services in liberated areas, emphasizing the necessity of aligning efforts in the region to address the needs of the population. Securing essential resources to support the interim government’s plans was underscored as crucial. Al-Bahra emphasized the active role of the Syria Recovery Trust Fund in facilitating economic recovery and development through financing projects implemented by the Syrian Interim Government. He pointed out the fund’s focus on supporting sectors such as education, health, electricity, water, and food security to alleviate the Syrian people’s suffering.
Al-Bahra addressed the plight of over 150,000 Syrian detainees in Assad regime prisons, emphasizing the need for comprehensive efforts to secure their liberation. He criticized the regime’s latest amnesty decree, which excluded political detainees, underscoring the regime’s continued suppression of the Syrian people’s aspirations for freedom and dignity.
Representatives from associations and community organizations highlighted the evident cohesion of the Syrian people in liberated areas. They emphasized the importance of conveying the reality of their circumstances to the world and stressed the need for cooperation and integration between revolutionary institutions, media activists, and displaced persons’ associations. Achieving security, justice, and stability in liberated areas was identified as a necessity across various political, economic, and societal sectors.
