President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Hadi Al-Bahra, and his accompanying delegation convened a meeting with the Council of Notables and Revolutionaries in the town of Al-Bab in the Aleppo countryside on Tuesday.
The SOC’s delegation comprised Bahjat al-Atassi, Abdel Basset Abdel Latif, Muhammad Qaddah, Najib Rahmoun, Basil Ghuneim, and the Minister of Finance and Economy in the interim government, Abdel Hakim al-Masri.
Al-Bahra highlighted the Assad regime’s persistent pursuit of destructive policies and a criminal approach for 12 years, especially in the aftermath of the country’s economic collapse. He pointed to the erosion of state institutions due to growing corruption networks linked to the regime’s leadership, transforming it into a mere militia and a de facto authority.
Emphasizing the significance of the civil anti-regime movement in Suwayda, Al-Bahra commended its ongoing presence in Karama Square, demanding political change and the implementation of UN Resolution 2254. He stressed the need for this revolutionary momentum to extend to all Syrian regions, asserting that the Assad regime has lost credibility, status, and the ability to lead or reconstruct. Al-Bahra urged the transformation of popular discontent and anger into a widespread mass movement to compel the regime to fulfill long-evaded obligations, steering Syria toward the prosperous future its people deserve.
The SOC’s delegation provided the Council with insights into the Syrian political process and discussed the importance of transitioning to a state of organization in the town for its advancement and that of all liberated areas.
In response, the Council of Notables and Revolutionaries emphasized the necessity of coordinating with the SOC and its affiliated institutions, along with civil bodies in the region. They underscored the importance of conveying the people’s voice to international forums.
This meeting with the Council is part of a broader tour conducted by SOC President Al-Bahra and his accompanying delegation, covering several towns in northern Syria to discuss conditions in liberated areas and the latest developments in the Syrian file.
