The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) reaffirmed its rejection and denunciation of attempts for cultural and ideological distortion being carried out by the PKK and PYD militias and their various arms in the areas they occupy in Syria.
In a press release issued on Thursday, the SOC said that “many households in the area refuse to send their children to these schools for fear of ignorance and distorted education being practiced by the PYD militia.”
“The people’s objections to these attempts expressed their real concern about the social divisions these curricula would cause among the people of the region; the hatred they would sow; and the threats of fragmenting the Syrian geography.”
The SOC stressed that “the ruining of education being practiced by this alien militia is a more distorted version than the Assad regime did through fifty years of tyranny. It is basically a continuation of the ideological distortion that was practiced by ISIS but in another direction.”
“The new educational curricula incite violence; instill terror in children; and champions terrorists such as the PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan by dubbing him “the number one teacher.”
The SOC stressed that “the Syrian people’s struggle for freedom will not end until Syria is fully liberated from all forms of occupation, terrorism, domination, and tyranny.” (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
