Vice President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Dima Moussa, and Coordinator of the SOC’s Foreign Relations Department, Abdulahad Astepho engaged in talks with Edward Gonzalez, Democracy and Governance Officer at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The primary agenda of the meeting was to explore collaborative strategies aimed at realizing the SOC’s vision for improving living conditions in northern Syria through the implementation of various initiatives, particularly those managed by the Syrian Interim Government.
During the meeting, Vice President Moussa provided an in-depth overview of the SOC’s comprehensive action plan, emphasizing the commitment to enhancing living conditions and fostering stability in the liberated areas. Central to this vision is the implementation of sustainable projects that create a conducive environment for entrepreneurs to invest, thereby generating job opportunities for the youth and discouraging migration to other countries.
Moussa underscored the SOC’s dedication to advancing education and healthcare services while supporting investments in the agricultural and industrial sectors. These efforts are geared towards elevating the standard of living for Syrian civilians in the region, especially given the challenges posed by the disruption of the political solution and the non-implementation of UN Resolution 2254. The latter is deemed crucial as it represents the sole path toward achieving a comprehensive solution for all Syrian people across the entirety of Syrian territories.
Astepho proposed the initiation of technical meetings with USAID, focusing on addressing the challenges faced by liberated areas, with a special emphasis on the agricultural sector. This collaborative effort would also extend to working with the Syrian Interim Government to identify and implement solutions to issues in the education and health sectors.
In response, Mr. Gonzalez expressed his readiness to cooperate in the realms of good governance and democracy. This commitment aligns with the shared goal of promoting stability and sustainable development in northern Syria, underscoring the importance of international collaboration in overcoming the challenges faced by the region.
