October 29, 2020
in Coalition News

The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) held a new consultative meeting with the Syrian political forces, parties and currents under the supervision of the Committee of National Dialogue. The meeting brought together dozens of Syrian personalities and political activists who participated in person and through video links.

Participants also included SOC’s President Nasr Al-Hariri, Vice-presidents Oqab Yahya and Ruba Habboush, member of the General Assembly Ahmed Ramadan, and member of the political committee, Abdullah Kaddo.

Participants discussed the latest developments, especially the developments in the political process and the challenges facing the Syrian revolution.

They also discussed the national political vision, the national discourse, and the results of the constitutional work group which the SOC formed to develop a vision for the future constitution of Syria.

Al-Hariri emphasized the importance of these meetings and the sustained communication with all Syrian political forces in correcting the course and working within a common vision to support the Syrian revolution and the demands of the Syrian people.

Al-Hariri talked about the SOC’s activities and its meetings in recent months and the developments in the political process, especially the Assad regime’s disruption of the work of the Constitutional Committee, and the briefing that the UN envoy to Syria, Geir Pederson, has recently presented to the UN Security Council.

Moreover, Al-Hariri called on all political forces and blocs to interact with the papers the SOC prepared on the national discourse and constitutional provisions.

Participants welcomed the SOC’s national discourse as they put forward several suggestions and proposals to be thoroughly discussed and then approved. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)

Preserving independence and national sovereignty and maintaining the Syrian people's unity within the same Syrian soil is one of the critical pillars of the Syrian Coalition. The Coalition aims to overthrow the Assad regime along with all its symbols and pillars. It also aims to dismantle its security apparatus and hold accountable those involved in crimes against Syrians. In addition, it seeks to achieve a transition to a pluralistic, democratic and civil Syria.
