The Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) Office of Syrian Communities Abroad held a virtual meeting with members of the Syrian community in the United States as well as representatives of the Keilapack and Citizens for a Secure and Safe America. In attendance were Co-chair of the Constitutional Committee, Hadi Al-Bahra, members of the SOC’s political committee, and the SOC’s representatives in the US.
Participants discussed the situation in the areas east of the Euphrates, the latest developments in the political process, and the upcoming US presidential elections and their impact on the Syrian issue.
Al-Bahra talked about the latest developments in the political process, prospects for a political solution, and the regime’s intransigence and rejection of any solution whatsoever. He said that there are efforts being made to push the work of the Constitutional Committee forward despite the lack of seriousness on the part of the international community to exert pressure on the Assad regime and its backers.
Member of the political committee, Salem al-Meslet, talked about the PYD militia’s violations in the areas east of the Euphrates and the close relationship between this terrorist organization and the Assad regime. He said that the SOC is seeking to enable the local people of the region to manage their areas by themselves.
Al-Meslet also gave an explanation about the consultative meetings the National Dialogue Committee held with various personalities and components from across the Syrian social fabric. He stressed that the SOC is seeking to listen to all Syrian voices from all backgrounds with the aim of creating unity and salvaging the country.
For their part, members of the Syrian community talked about the latest developments in the upcoming US elections, the chances of winning, and the impact of these elections on regional issues, especially Syria.
Coordinator of the Communities Office, Muhammad Yahya Maktabi, said that the participants agreed to hold further meetings and exchange information, especially with regard to the PYD’s crimes east of the Euphrates. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
