The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) condemned the dangerous escalation undertaken by the Assad regime and Russia in Jabal al-Zawiya and western rural Aleppo. Additionally, it deplored a similar escalation orchestrated by the PYD terrorist militia, with the backing of the regime and Russia, in the countryside of Al-Bab and Manbij in Aleppo province. These criminal entities have unleashed heavy artillery, rocket attacks, and airstrikes on civilian areas, endangering the lives of countless innocent civilians.
In a press release issued on Wednesday, the SOC said that this relentless escalation targeting civilian areas constitutes an imminent threat to the lives of millions of individuals residing in liberated regions, particularly as the number of attacks has surpassed 500 incidents this year alone.
“The intensification of these hostilities forewarns of a fresh wave of mass displacement, with dozens of families already forced to seek refuge in less perilous locations due to the relentless bombing campaign.”
The SOC called upon the Syrian National Army to confront these criminal bombings, with the paramount aim of safeguarding the lives and well-being of our civilian population.
“It is undeniable that the oppressive actions, murders, and acts of terrorism perpetrated by the Assad regime persist due to the international community’s inability to halt these brutal massacres. Furthermore, the lack of serious commitment over the years to implement United Nations resolutions on Syria, notably UN Resolutions 2254 and 2118, has contributed to this ongoing tragedy,” the SOC added.
“The international community now faces an imperative duty to rescue those who remain in Syria. This can be achieved through the pursuit of a comprehensive political transition that propels the nation into a post-Assad era, ultimately leading to the establishment of a free and democratic Syria that caters to the aspirations of all its people.”
