Secretary of the political committee in the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Abdel Basset Abdel Latif, has underscored that the mullahs’ regime in Iran is perpetrating crimes against the Iranian people, mirroring the same offenses committed through sectarian militias across Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, and Yemen. He emphasized that the Iranian regime relies on excessive killing and torture to instill fear and silence dissent.
Abdul Latif, speaking on Friday, highlighted that the condemnation of widespread human rights violations in Iran by the Third Committee of the 78th United Nations General Assembly reaffirms that the mullahs’ regime employs identical methods, constituting the core of its rule and sectarian agenda.
Emphasizing the necessity of a decisive international stance against the crimes committed by the mullahs’ regime in Iran and neighboring countries, Abdul Latif called for actions to restore security and stability to the region.
The Third Committee of the 78th United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution condemning the human rights violations of the mullahs’ regime. The vote yielded a majority of 80 votes in favor, 29 votes against, and 65 countries abstaining from voting.
