The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) valued the firm, principled position of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia regarding a political solution in Syria, putting an end to the tragedy of the Syrian people, and achieving political transition in accordance with UN Resolution 2254.
The SOC earlier expressed its hopes that the Arab Summit will achieve tangible progress in Syrian and support a political transition in accordance with UN resolutions, in a way that meets the aspirations of the Syrian people who are still yearning to regain their freedom and rights with the support of their Arab brothers.
In his speech before the Arab League summit in Algeria on Wednesday, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan announced that his country supports all Arab and international efforts to find a political solution in Syria.
The Saudi foreign minister said that “the Kingdom is keen on Syria’s security and stability and supports all Arab and international efforts aimed at finding a political solution to the Syrian crisis.”
In November 2011, the Arab League decided to suspend the membership of the Assad regime in response to the crimes it is committing against the Syrian people and its brutal crackdown on the peaceful demonstrations that erupted in March 2011. (Source: SOC’s media department)
