As part of an Arab campaign the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) launched to mobilize support for the Syrian revolution, SOC President Nasr al-Hariri sent letters to the Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Gulf Cooperation Council, and Arab states regarding the latest developments in the field and political situation in Syria.
Al-Hariri extended his sincere thanks and deep appreciation for the Arab countries’ continued support for the cause of the Syrian people to achieve their just, legitimate demands.
He expressed his appreciation for the continued activity by the Arab governments as their efforts to help reach a political solution in Syria through their important and effective role in Arab and international forums.
Al-Hariri stressed that the SOC and the Syrian Revolution relied on the important role of Arab countries within the Arab League; on the level of the Islamic nation through the Organization of Islamic Cooperation; and at the international level through the UN Security Council and the United Nations. He said that this role will help prevent the rehabilitation of the Assad regime.
He stressed that this Arab role will help reach a political solution in line with the Geneva Communique of 2012 and UN Security Council Resolution 2254. It will also pave the way for the safe, voluntary return of Syrian refugees as well as ensure the withdrawal of all foreign forces from Syria, especially Iranian militias while weakening Iran’s growing influence in the Arab region.
Al-Hariri said that the SOC is keen on maintaining the brotherly relations with the Arab and Islamic world order to take decisions that serve the causes of the Syrian people, the Arab world, and the region. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
