As part of the international diplomatic campaign the Syrian Opposition Coalition launched to mobilize international support for the Syrian revolution, SOC President Nasr al-Hariri sent letters to the UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, the UN envoy to Syria, Geir Pedersen, and the friendly Western countries regarding the latest political and on the ground developments in Syria.
Al-Hariri expressed his gratitude for the leading role of the friendly states as reliable allies to the Syrian revolution and people. “Our friends have always been sincere friends of the Syrian people and true supporters for the Syrian people in their just struggle for freedom, dignity and justice.”
He also expressed his appreciation for the efforts exerted by the friendly governments and people who warmly welcomed the Syrian refugees fleeing the crimes being committed by the Assad regime and its terrorist militias.
“We affirm our confidence regarding your commitment to support the just cause of the Syrian people. We stress the importance of reaching a comprehensive political solution in Syria, in accordance with the relevant resolutions, including UNSCR 2254 (2015), that fulfils the aspirations of the Syrian people, and which among other things will enable Syrian refugees to return to their homeland and will ensure fundamentally resolving the humanitarian crisis in Syria.” (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
