The Legal and Human Rights Work Group of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) is set to organize a workshop in the town of Azaz in Aleppo countryside on March 23, titled “Developing Legislation: A Social and Institutional Imperative for Promoting Justice and Human Rights.”
The workshop will bring together a diverse group of participants, including judges, lawyers, legal scholars, researchers, and individuals with a vested interest in legislation and justice. Additionally, executive officials and decision-makers will attend.
During the workshop, discussions will revolve around the current state of legislation in liberated areas, emphasizing the significance of its development in ensuring justice and safeguarding citizens’ rights. The social and institutional dimensions of this legislative process will also be highlighted.
Abdulbasit Abdullatif, Coordinator of the Group, expressed optimism regarding the workshop’s potential to raise awareness about the pivotal role of legislative development in achieving justice and rights within society. He underscored the importance of preparing for comprehensive legislative initiatives aimed at advancing these objectives.
Abdullatif reiterated that enhancing security and stability in liberated areas stands as a paramount goal in SOC’s current agenda. He emphasized the necessity of enhancing governance systems and bolstering the judiciary’s authority.
