President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) Nasr Al-Hariri and a SOC delegation took part in the festival that the SOC organized in coordination with the Association of Independent Kurds in Afrin on Wednesday. Participants also included local notables, the Directorate of Military Ethics in the Syrian National Army, and women who are active in public affairs.
The SOC’s delegation comprised Vice-president Ruba Habboush, members of the political committee Ahmed Ramadan, Yasser Al-Farhan and Muhammad Yahya Maktabi, member of the General Assembly Ahmed Al-Shehadi, and SOC’s representative in Gaziantep Colonel Muhammad Al-Shamali.
Al-Hariri stressed that the elections farce that the Assad regime’s security agencies are holding are null and does not have any value. He also stressed that all attempts to reproduce the regime are doomed to failure, and that bringing the criminals of this regime to international courts is only a matter of time.
He also stressed the SOC’s commitment to supporting the issue of accountability; pushing it to the forefront of international attention; and urging the international community to take concrete steps that would achieve political transition, draft a new constitution, until free and fair elections are held.
Participants also reaffirmed their rejection of the elections farce as a whole as they stressed the need for political transition and accountability for the regime. They also stressed that the regime seized power through criminality and continued with it to this day through more killing and suppression of freedoms. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
