A delegation from the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) comprising Secretary-General Abdelbaset Abdullatif and member of the General Assembly Najib Rahmoun participated in a sit-in protest against the Assad regime’s elections farce. The protest was organized by al-Nahda International University in rural Aleppo.
The university organized the sit-in protest at its headquarters in the town of Azaz with the participants including political and social personalities as well as teaching staff and university students.
The sit-in came to reaffirm rejection of the elections farce that the Assad regime held in the areas under its control as participants reaffirmed that these sham elections do not have any veneer of legitimacy for violating all UN resolutions on Syria.
Participants chanted slogans calling for the overthrow of the Assad regime as they reaffirmed their commitment to the revolution until the demands and aspirations of the Syrian people are fulfilled.
The protest came as one of several sit-ins, demonstrations and activities that are being held in the liberated areas. The SOC participated in the majority of these protest, including the sit-ins held at the Free Aleppo University and Jinderes. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
