President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition, Nasr Al-Hariri, met with a delegation from the Assyrian Democratic Organization headed by Daoud Daoud, head of the Executive Office, the organization’s representative in the SOC, and Coordinator of the SOC’s Department of Foreign Relations, Abdulahad Asteipho.
Participants in the meeting discussed the role of the SOC’s components in improving its work and reaching out to the Syrian people as well as in developing its relations with the regional and international actors so as to serve the cause of the Syrian people.
The meeting came as part of the periodic meetings the SOC is conducting to improve communication, cooperation and coordination with all components, bodies and national figures forming the SOC’s General Assembly.
SOC’s president talked about the importance of strengthening the SOC’s role in beating off the challenges facing the Syrian revolution. He stressed the need to hold further meetings and expand communication and coordination in order to take positions corresponding with the new vision that the SOC will announce in the next few days.
Participants in the meeting discussed the PYD militia’s grave violations against components of the region under its control. They stressed the need to attract attention to these violations as they reiterated that the region east of the Euphrates is an integral part of Syria.
They also discussed the situation in the town of Ras al-Ayn in rural Hasaka, stressing the need to intensify work by the Syrian Interim Government to ensure security and stability in and around the town.
Participants focused on the ongoing preparations for the third session of the Constitutional Committee due to be held in Geneva on August 24. Al-Hariri reaffirmed the SOC’s support for the Syrian Negotiations Commission, expressing his hope for achieving progress and discussing the constitutional provisions. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
