The President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Hadi Al-Bahra, extended his heartfelt salute to the people of Suwayda, who have persistently led a peaceful anti-regime movement for several months. Their steadfast demands include the implementation of UN Resolution 2254, seeking a political solution, the release of detainees, and uncovering the fate of the forcibly disappeared.
In a post on X website, Al-Bahra underscored Suwayda as the pulsating heart of free Syria. He acknowledged the city’s continued peaceful movement, embodying the aspirations of the Syrian people who have valiantly revolted and sacrificed for the ideals of dignity, justice, freedom, and democracy. Al-Bahra also expressed sincere condolences for the fallen heroes of Syria, stating, “May God have mercy on your fallen heroes, the heroes of Syria.”
Recently, Suwayda witnessed an anti-regime demonstration commemorating the 11th anniversary of First Lieutenant Khaldoun Zain al-Din and Warrant Officer Samer al-Bunni’s deaths. Additionally, the town of Al-Qurayya, situated south of Suwayda, staged a protest at the shrine of Sultan Pasha Al-Atrash. This demonstration conveyed solidarity with detainees and victims of torture under the Assad regime. Protesters displayed images of Syrian detainees, underscoring popular demands for political change and the urgent implementation of UN resolutions.
