The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) on Friday received representatives of Syrian political parties, currents, and blocs with the aim of discussing a draft of a national political vision that the SOC intends to declare in the coming days.
SOC President Nasr Al-Hariri said that the Syrian revolution is facing tough challenges at the internal and external levels, adding that these challenge require that the SOC develops a political vision to carry out new tasks that were not entrusted to it at the beginning of its formation.
“The political vision must be renewed in a way that preserves the fundamental principles of the Syrian revolution and keeps pace with the current reality,” Al-Hariri said. He added that the SOC’s political committee has already prepared a draft of a national political vision.
“The current challenges require that we work together,” he said, pointing to the need for a comprehensive reviewing of the institutions of the revolution and the bodies and institutions in which they operate. He said that this reviewing comes at the top of the SOC’s list of priorities as the legitimate representative of the Syrian people.
The meeting involved thorough discussions and suggestions for a draft national political vision as participants recorded many important points that will be integrated into the vision.
Participants also put forward a set of recommendations and proposals, including holding a joint workshop to discuss the political parties law and the election law as well as the registration of parties.
They also suggested holding further meetings to discuss the political and on the ground developments so as to enable the parties and block not represented in the SOC to contribute to political action. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
