The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) said that airstrikes by the Russian occupation jets on the town of Binnish at dawn on the fourth day of Eid Al-Adha holidays constitute blatant violation of the ceasefire agreement signed months ago and a terrorist act.
In a press release issued on Monday, the SOC said that the Russian airstrikes hit an IDP camp outside Binnish, killing three civilians and wounding many others. The attack risks opening the door for new escalation, especially as it comes in the context of a ground and aerial bombing campaign that have targeted several towns and villages in southern rural Idlib and triggered a new wave of mass displacement in the region.
“The Assad regime and its allies are working to escalate the situation in order to test the response of the international community, which once again requires international actors to assume their responsibilities,” the SOC added.
It also said that international actors are required to take action to put an end to these crimes as they represent a threat to the ceasefire agreement so that the situation do not further deteriorate in a direction that will not be in anyone’s interest.
The SOC warned of the consequences of these attacks as it reaffirms that everyone will be responsible for the outcome of these ongoing attempts.
