President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Nasr Al-Hariri, sent a letter to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) regarding the Syrian refugees who have recently arrived in Somalia and to urge the provision of humanitarian and relief aid to them.
Al-Hariri thanked the Commission for its efforts to help the Syrian people and alleviate their suffering.
He pointed out that the SOC has learnt about the arrival of Syrian refugees to Hargeisa in Somalia coming from Sudan and Ethiopia, adding that the SOC’s Office of Refugee Affairs is communicating with the new arrivals and compiling a list of their names.
Al-Hariri pointed out that the Syrian refugees in Somalia need assistance in terms of shelter as well as humanitarian and medical aid, calling for helping them reunite with their families across Somalia, especially in the capital Mogadishu. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
