The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) announced that it stands with the leadership and people of the sisterly Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the action being taken to maintain the safety, security and stability of the country while respecting the rule of law and observing official procedures. These remarks were made in an official letter sent by SOC’s President Nasr Al-Hariri to Jordan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi on Monday.
Al-Hariri stressed that it rejects all attempts to undermine Jordan’s legitimate institutions, stressing the need to maintain good governance; uphold freedoms; and uphold the state of the constitution and institutions.
He renewed the SOC’s thanks and appreciation for the popular and official stances of Jordan towards the legitimate rights of the Syrian people. He said: “Indeed, millions of displaced Syrians have touched the magnanimity of our brothers in the Kingdom and their sincere support throughout the ordeal the Syrian people are going through.”
Al-Hariri expressed the SOC’s appreciation for Jordan’s position on Syria and its commitment to the principled Arab position calling for a political solution in line with the Geneva Communique of 2012 and UN Security Council Resolution 2254 with all its provisions, including the formation of a transitional governing body, drafting a new constitution, restoring power to the Syrian people, and creating a safe environment for the voluntary return of Syrian refugees.
He also reaffirmed the SOC’s keenness to preserve the best fraternal and distinguished relations with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, wishing Jordan and its brotherly people permanent progress, stability and prosperity. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
