President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Salem Al-Meslet, called on the Indian government to apologize for the offensive remarks made by an official in the ruling party against the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him.
Al-Meslet expressed his outright rejection and denunciation of the statements made by an official in the ruling party in India in which he insulted the position of prophethood.
In comments he posted on Twitter, Al-Meslet said: “The insulting statements made by the Indian official against our Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, represent a deliberate insult to two billion Muslims around the world.”
“These irresponsible statements risk inciting hatred, insulting the beliefs of Muslims, and provoking hostility between peoples,” Al-Meslet added.
SOC’s Secretary-General, Haitham Rahma, warned against continuing such offensive remarks which he said incite religious strife and provoke two billion Muslims around the world, stressing that they may have disastrous consequences.
Rahma called for respecting all religions, stressing that the recent remarks represent an insult to all Muslims and indicate total ignorance and of the grace of our Prophet Muhammad to all of humanity.
