The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) issued a press release on the new challenges facing the Syrian people at home and in the diaspora, who are, like all other people of the world, are at risk of the coronavirus pandemic.
The SOC extended its sincere condolences to the families of those who died of this disease, including those who died in the regime-held areas whose real numbers the regime is trying to cover up. It commended the efforts of doctors and other Syrians working in the health sector everywhere.
“Solidarity, cooperation, and communal support in these difficult circumstances have long characterized the noble Syrian people throughout history. We have always been in need for one other, offering assistance to our next of kin, friends, neighbors, and the passerby. These are the traits of our people who have always given generously, which everyone has clearly seen since the beginning of the revolution in Syria.”
The SOC said that “the liberated areas in northern Syrian need everyone’s efforts at home and abroad and need all types of support, starting from the well-off helping the most vulnerable to Syrians abroad providing assistance through individual and collective donations.”
“We are confident that our good people, namely the businessmen, will continue to support those in need and step up their assistance in these circumstances.”
“We hope that our people in the host countries will comply with the instructions being issued by the official authorities so that they act as real ambassadors of the Syrian people. We also hope that they will set an example for others in respecting law and in the material, moral and voluntary contribution to the efforts to confront this pandemic in coordination with communal and civil society organizations.” (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
