Vice President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Abdul Hakim Bashar, submitted his work report during the 69th regular meeting of the General Assembly. The meeting took place at the office of the Syrian Interim Government in Aleppo province on Thursday.
Bashar highlighted his recent meetings with Masrour Barzani, the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq, and various regional officials. The discussions primarily focused on improving the conditions of Syrian refugees in the region and addressing their challenges. According to Bashar, Mr. Barzani issued instructions to official authorities, emphasizing the importance of promptly responding to the demands of Syrian refugees and working towards swift solutions.
The Vice President elaborated on his discussions covering a range of issues related to Syrian refugees in Iraq, including health, education, and basic life necessities such as food, water, heating, and housing.
Bashar emphasized the positive and engaged response from regional officials, citing the issuance of a circular aimed at resolving the challenges faced by Syrian refugee children. The circular also addressed the enrollment of these children in schools, focused on the health conditions within refugee camps, and the need for granting permission for refugees to work in various sectors.
In his report, Bashar underscored that the presence of the Kurdish National Council in the SOC is a strategic decision, emphasizing that it is not a temporary or tactical measure.
