The Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) Civil Society Organizations Committee presented its annual report to the General Assembly its 57th session.
The report indicated that the Committee held many meetings with associations active in the humanitarian field regarding Syrians inside and outside Syria.
According to the report, the Committee met with the Al-Nour Association, the Associations Forum, the Side-by-Side Organization for People with Disabilities, the Russol Organization, the Voluntary Youth Team, and the Turkish Relations Committee.
At these meetings, the Committee discussed the obstacles to registering organizations and ways of cooperation to reach the best possible results. It also discussed how to develop cooperation with civil society organizations within the framework of the SOC’s plan for reaching out to Syrian institutions and organizations and providing them with support to enable them perform their duties towards the Syrian people.
The report highlighted the most important ideas that were put forward during these meetings, including assigning the Syrian Interim Government with the task of supervising civil organizations and institutions and following up on their work. The task also includes building and establishing good relations with Turkish humanitarian institutions and mapping out civil society organizations.
The report discussed the problems and difficulties people with disabilities are facing, stressing the need to work on rehabilitating and training them to integrate them into society.
