The Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) Office of Communities Abroad presented its work report to the General Assembly during its 52nd meetings highlighting its activities and the results of its meetings with a number of Syrian communities around the world.
Coordinator of the Office, Muhammad Yahya Maktabi, said that the Office adopted a plan of action to hold regular meetings with the Syrian communities in various countries of the world. He pointed out that this move came as part of the SOC’s plan to reach out to the Syrian communities in the diaspora and inform them of the latest developments in Syria.
The report indicated that the Office held more than six virtual meetings with Syrian communities abroad which focused on the coronavirus crisis in Syria, especially in the liberated areas and ways to provide medical and relief support to civilians and alleviate their suffering.
Maktabi said that the Office provided the Syrian communities with a detailed explanation of the SOC’s plan of action in the current period, the work of departments, offices and committees, the role of the Syrian Interim Government in managing the liberated areas and improving services, the developments in the political process, and the work of the Constitutional Committee.
Maktabi stressed the important role of the Syrian communities in properly defining the Syrian revolution and its goals as well as exerting pressure on decision-makers in the host countries to mobilize support for the Syrian people’s aspirations for freedom, dignity and democracy.
