Coordinator of the Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) Office of Syrian Communities Abroad, Muhammad Yahya Maktabi, submitted a report on the Office’s activities in the past two months to the General Assembly at its 54th meeting. The report detailed the Office’s activities in following up the affairs of Syrian communities in the host countries.
Maktabi said that the Office continues to communicate with the Syrian communities in the diaspora, especially the Syrian community in the United States with the aim of coordinating with them and forming pressure and advocacy groups. He said that these groups will work on serving the cause of the Syrian people in their struggle to reach a political solution that ends their suffering and contributes to building a civil state away from dictatorship.
Maktabi stressed that the activities that the Office has recently carried out with Syrian communities abroad were positive and fruitful, adding that they focused on the need to implement UN resolutions so as to achieve the aspirations of the Syrian people for freedom, dignity and democratic transition.
The report underscored the need for Syrian communities in the diaspora to help their fellow Syrians at home and help each other in the diaspora.
The report indicated that in all its meetings, the Office stressed the SOC’s commitment to the political solution in Syria in accordance with UN resolutions, especially the Geneva Communique of 2012 and UN Resolutions 2118 and 2254. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
