The delegation of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) to Brussels, headed by President Salem Al-Meslet, met with a delegation from the European Union headed by Carl Hallergard on the sidelines of the sixth annual donors conference on Syria.
The delegation was headed by President Salem al-Meslet, Vice President for Foreign Affairs Abdulahad Astepho, Vice President Ruba Habboush, members of the political committee Yahya Maktabi and Abdullah Kaddo, and Executive Director of the Assistance Coordination Unit Muhammad Hasno.
The SOC reaffirmed its commitment to achieving the Syrian people’s demands for freedom, dignity and democracy, and guaranteeing the rights of all the Syrian people.
The two sides stressed the need to continue cooperating with the rest of the international parties, including the United States and Turkey, to prevent any attempt to normalize relations with the Assad regime and to ensure accountability.
The two parties also talked about the issue of humanitarian aid as they stressed the need to step it up and renew the UN resolution on the cross-border delivery of humanitarian aid to those in need.
The SOC’s delegation stressed the need to support the Syrian Interim Government and enable it to manage the liberated areas, provide services to the population and provide security and stability.
For their part, the European Union delegation emphasized that the Syrian refugees have the expertise enabling them to contribute to production and development in the host countries.
