A delegation from the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) visited the village of Mirkan in the Ma’abatli subdistrict in the Afrin region northwest of Aleppo where they met with the residents and visited a number of orphan associations, the town’s notables, the local council and the Endowments Directorate.
The delegation comprised members of the political committee Yasser Al-Farhan, members of the General Assembly Ahmed Al-Shehadi, Jawad Abu Hatab, Najib Rahmoun, Ahmed Bakkoura, Zakariya Malahifji, Atef Zureik, Hakim Al-Shaish, and members of the Association of Independent Kurds.
The delegation met director of education in Afrin, head of the local council in Ma’abatli subdistrict Muhammad al-Hasan, the Mufti of Afrin Salah Karrou, and member of the Association of Independent Kurds Azad Othman.
The delegation exchanged Eid al-Fitr greetings with the residents and talked about the latest political developments and the SOC’s activities. Director of education and the Mufti of Afrin talked about children’s rights as they indicated that all children were absorbed in schools. They also said that orphans are being sponsored by institutions that are catering for their needs.
Residents and notables in the village welcomed the SOC’s visit as they discussed the economic and social conditions in the liberated areas and means of their development. They also discussed the latest on the ground and political developments.
This visit came as part of a tour that the SOC is conducting in the liberated areas where it met with local councils, charities and active institutions with the aim of reaching out to the civilian population and checking up on their conditions and needs. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
