A delegation from the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) on Monday visited the headquarters of the Ministry of Defense in the Syrian Interim Government (SIG) in rural Aleppo where they met with the Minister of Defense, Brigadier General Hassan al-Hamada. The two sides discussed the field conditions and the combat readiness of the Syrian National Army, while the SOC’s delegation briefed the Minister of Defense on the latest political developments in Syria.
The delegation comprised coordinator of the SOC’s office in the liberated areas Najib Rahmoun, and SOC’s members Atef Zureik and Asa’ad Allito.
The two sides also discussed several pivotal issues related to the Syrian National Army, especially its role in defending the liberated areas, protecting civilians and SIG’s institutions, and confronting the terrorist attacks by the Assad regime and other terrorist organizations.
The SOC’s delegation stressed the importance of SIG’s role in managing the liberated areas, and the need to activate institutional work by preparing qualified staff. It also reaffirmed its support for SIG and its executive institutions.
