Vice-president of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) and Coordinator of the Department of Foreign Relations Abdulahad Asteipho presented a report on the work of the Department over the past two months. The report highlighted the activities and tasks accomplished by the Department and the ongoing preparations to visit the US in conjunction with the upcoming United Nations General Assembly meetings.
Asteipho gave an overview on the details of the international diplomatic campaign of the SOC, which includes sending letters and legal memoranda to foreign countries and international organizations. He also gave an overview on the meetings held by the Department with representatives of friendly and sisterly countries to end the siege imposed by the Assad regime on Daraa and the military escalation against the city, which caused widespread destruction and displacement of the population.
He also spoke about the work of the SOC’s representations in a number of Arab and Western countries, noting that the Department prepared regulations for the SOC’s representatives and ambassadors, in addition to conducting an evaluation of the work of the SOC’s representatives in the past period and receiving their work reports.
Asteipho pointed out that the SOC approved the appointment of Imad Kassas as its representative in Romania.
