The regional offices of the Arab, US, Turkish, and European affairs of the Department of Foreign Relations presented their bi-monthly work report during its regular meeting on Tuesday. Participants in the meeting discussed the Department’s vision and administrative structure as well as approved its plan of action for the next three months.
The Department’s vision and action plan focused on strengthening the SOC’s international, regional, and national relations in a balanced manner that is based on preserving Syria’s national interests and investing common interests so as to serve the goals of the Syrian revolution and the SOC’s political vision. This vision aims to reach a just political solution that meets the aspirations of the Syrian people for freedom, dignity, justice and democracy and in accordance with the relevant UN resolutions, especially UN Resolution 2254 and the Geneva Communique of 2012.
Participants in the meeting stressed the importance of continued cooperation with the Syrian Interim Government’s Ministry of Health, the Assistance Coordination Unit, and representatives of friendly states in order to help confront the coronavirus pandemic, especially as the cases of infection in the liberated areas rose to 30.
Members of the Department also stressed the need to work with Turkey and the rest of the major actors to safeguard the ceasefire agreement in Idlib which was announced on March 5. They also stressed need to protect civilians in these dire humanitarian conditions, especially the fragile health sector and the risk of a major coronavirus outbreak across Syria.
