The Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) General Assembly on Wednesday concluded its 54th meeting simultaneously in the town of Azaz and Istanbul via video-conference.
Members of the General Assembly completed the agenda of the meeting as they reviewed reports by the Syrian Interim Government, the Syrian Negotiations Commission, and the SOC’s departments, offices and committees.
Members of the Assembly condemned the Assad regime and its backers’ ongoing crimes against civilians as they stressed the need for a firm international stance to put an end to these crimes and put an end to the suffering of the Syrian people.
They commended the work of the SOC’s departments, offices, committees, executive institutions and the Syrian National Army, stressing the need to step up efforts to fulfill the aspirations of the Syrian people for freedom, dignity and democracy.
Moreover, they lauded the meetings held by the SOC with the aim of promoting national dialogue with all the spectrums of the Syrian people, parties and political blocs; achieving a participatory approach; and formulating a common vision for the future of Syria.
Members of the Assembly stressed the need to implement UN resolutions on Syria, most notably the Geneva Communiqué of 2012 and UN Resolution 2254 so as to ensure the establishment of a transitional governing body; accountability, and transitional justice. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
